POLICE AUTHORITY COMMUNITY FORUMS

The North Wales Police Authority is independent of the Police. Its primary duty is to ensure that the North Wales Police Force is efficient and effective, and also that the activities reflect the needs of the local communities.

The successful development of Neighbourhood Policing Panels to tackle local policing problems at source in partnership with the police and other agencies means that Police Authority Community Forums have now replaced the former P.C.C.G (Police and Community Consultative Group) meetings, and play a key role in enabling the Authority to consult with the public on a thematic basis, to discuss and identify future policing priorities and to work with the Chief Constable to ensure that these issues are tackled.

There are six Police Authority Community Forums, one in each of the Counties of Gwynedd, Conwy, Anglesey, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham. Each group meets periodically during the year, usually at different venues within each county. Meeting dates are widely advertised in the local press, libraries and other public places. Meetings are chaired by a Police Authority Member and are open to the public and community representatives. They provide an excellent opportunity for members of the local community to share their views on the future direction and style of policing and to assist the Authority in influencing the annual planning process. Dates and venues for forthcoming meetings are as follows:

Anglesey 02.09.08 Llanfaethlu
Denbighshire 04.09.08 Prestatyn
Conwy 11.09.08 Glan Conwy
Wrexham 16.10.08 Guild Hall, Wrexham
Flintshire 09.09.08 Buckley
Gwynedd 15.07.08

Porthmadog

All the above meetings commence at 7.00pm
