Welsh Language Scheme

Prepared under the Welsh Language Act of 1993
This scheme received the approval of the Welsh Language Board under section 14(1) of the Act on the 4th June 1997.

North Wales Police has adopted the principle that in the conduct of public business and the administration of justice in Wales it will treat the english and welsh languages on a basis of equality. This scheme sets out how the North Wales Police and the North Wales Police Authority will give effect to that principle when providing services to the public in Wales.

Disability Equality Scheme

This Scheme is a statement of our duties and obligations in respect of disability equality, a plan of how we are setting about meeting those responsibilities including how we will monitor the North Wales Police Force.

North Wales Police Authority seeks to maintain a policing service that is both relevant and fair to all sections of society. Our goal is to ensure an effective and efficient police service for the diverse communities of North Wales.

Gender Equality Scheme

Click on the links below for access to North Wales Police Authority’s Gender Equality Scheme. This document sets out the Authority’s approach to Gender Equality both within the organisation as an employer and externally in the commission of its public duties.

The Scheme details how we have gathered information to help us establish how we are currently performing in terms of gender equality and develops plans to assist us in better practices for the future.

Meeting the Gender Equality Duty is an imperative part of the equality jigsaw for the Authority and we appreciate that this scheme is part of a number of tools that guide us to better diversity outcomes.

North Wales Police Authority welcomes any feedback about the Scheme and attached Action Plan.

Corporate Code of Governance

As a public service organisation the North Wales Police Authority recognises its, and the North Wales Police’s responsibilities both to provide a vision for the community it serves and to lead by example in its decision making and other processes and actions.

It is the Chief Constable’s role to manage the police force and therefore has responsibility for putting in place good corporate governance practice so far as that role is concerned. The role of the Authority is to hold the Chief Constable to account for how he fulfills his role and to make sure that he has appropriate processes and policies in place to satisfy the requirements of good corporate governance.

Financial Regulations

These financial regulations have been drawn up to comply with the Code of Practice on Financial Management which has been produced under Section 28C of the Police Act 1964, as amended by Section 15 of the Police and Magistrates’ Courts Act 1994. Paragraph 3 of the Code recommend that “unless there are good reasons to the contrary police authorities should delegate financial management to the Chief Constable so that, as far as possible, the financial management of the Force takes place within that Force”.
