Mr Anderson was brought up in Penmaenmawr and the Conwy Valley. He is married with four grown up children and some grandchildren.

He is a qualified barrister and Chartered Accountant and was formerly Chairman of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Mr Anderson is a Cambridge law graduate and specialist in Company Law and Accounting Regulations. He is also the proprietor of an Accountancy and Business Training College.

He was the Institute of Chartered Accountants award winner for outstanding achievement in 2001.

He was appointed OBE in 1997 and is a Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Clwyd.

His interests include the garden, music, cars, food and wine and Greek and Roman Civilisations. He is a former captain of Penmaenmawr Golf Club.

Mr Anderson has been a Magistrate Member of the Authority since 1991 and was Chairman of the Authority during the year 1999-2000. Mr Anderson is currently the Chair of the Authority's Professional Standards Committee.
