Mr Lewis is married with one son and two daughters and is originally a native of Wrexham but has been resident in Llangollen for the past 23 years.

After graduating as an aeronautical engineer he worked initially on the development of the jet engine for the Harrier jump-jet. With the decline of the British aircraft industry he obtained a post-graduate management qualification and moved into personnel management.

He eventually returned to North Wales as personnel manager for a major packaging company before joining Toyota (UK) in a senior management role to help establish and develop of their 'greenfield' engine manufacturing facility on Deeside.

Following his retirement, he joined the North Wales Police Authority and also sits on the boards of Conwy and Denbighshire NHS Trust and the North Wales Probation Service.

Mr Lewis is the Vice-Chair of the Police Authority.
