North Wales Police Authority are bound by new legislation in regard to gender equality.

Further to the Equalities Act 2006 North Wales Police Authority is now subject to the Gender Equality Duties. We must have due regard to the following when carrying out our general functions:

- To promote equality of opportunity between men and women

- To eliminate unlawful discrimination

- To eliminate unlawful harassment

The Authority is now responsible for demonstrating that its practices are non-discriminatory and promote equality between men and women. In doing this we have prepared a Gender Equality Scheme to illustrate how we can properly establish Gender Equality Objectives and meet our general duties.

The Authority takes its diversity responsibilities seriously and is striving to ensure that equality is main streamed in all its work.
