Citizen Focus
Citizen Focus is a clear understanding of what you, the public of North Wales, want, what matters to you and what quality you can expect in terms of the service you receive from the police.
Citizen Focus means putting the public at the heart of everything that we do and ensuring that North Wales Police uses this understanding to design and deliver policing services that you find easy to access and use and that are relevant and useful to you.
For some time now, although crime rates have been falling, public perception is that it is rising, indicating a lack of confidence that the police are dealing with the things that make you feel safe and reassured. Citizen focus aims to reduce this 'reassurance gap' by improving the police’s understanding of what makes people feel confident in the police and by increasing the satisfaction of those who call the police. The overall aim is to ensure that North Wales Police provides a professional service that is tailored to the individual needs and experience of those who contact the police, thereby helping to build public confidence in the police.
North Wales Police Authority fully supports the introduction of Citizen-focused policing, and believes that the needs and expectations of individuals and local communities should always be reflected in police decision-making and service. The Police Authority has a quality assurance role on North Wales Police’s Citizen Focus Programme Board and has appointed a lead member who will monitor compliance with the Policing Pledge, and the progress made in relation to the other Citizen Focus projects at its Performance Review Committee. In addition to monitoring how North Wales Police puts the citizen at the heart of everything it does, the Authority itself will constantly review how it provides services to the public.
