Citizen Hallmarks
Citizen Hallmarks have been developed nationally to test whether police forces in England and Wales design and deliver services that inspire public confidence.
The Hallmarks have been produced by the Association of Chief Police Officers and the National Police Improvement Agency’s Citizen Focus and Neighbourhood Policing Programme to enable forces and individual members of staff to better understand what the characteristics of Citizen Focus are.
‘Hallmarks’ are traditionally used to indicate quality. They should be clearly identifiable and act as a recognisable standard of what can be expected. The Hallmarks of Citizen Focus policing are exactly that. It is intended that they should be interwoven throughout the ‘whole system’ of policing, from neighbourhood teams, response patrols, protective services and the wide variety of supporting activity.
The outcomes of Citizen Hallmarks should be:
IMPROVED public confidence
INCREASED satisfaction of service users
INCREASED public involvement in policing
North Wales Police Authority will ensure that North Wales Police uses the Citizen Hallmarks to deliver and evaluate its services. We will also periodically assess the gaps identified and action plans to ensure that they are complete and fit for purpose.
The Hallmarks are intended as a first step to systemising quality, but need to be tested in practical situations and, importantly, shared with the public and partners.
