Born and brought up in the Village of Glan Conwy and educated in Colwyn Bay, now lives in Old Colwyn.

Married with three children and four grandchildren.

Prior to retirement worked at a senior level in the Insurance and financial services industry.
Was first elected as a councilor in 1983 to the then Colwyn Borough Council and subsequently to the new Conwy County Borough Council in 1996.

During that time served on most major committees and was elected Chairman of the authority in 2008.

Was appointed a magistrate in 1985.

He is also active in the voluntary sector and has served as president of the Colwyn Bay and District Lions Club on two occasions and is also active with Diabetes Cymru and a local environmental group, the Old Colwyn Federation.

Hobbies include the Theater, walking and when necessary gardening
