Cllr Roberts has been Chairman of North Wales Police Authority since 2005.

He is a leading figure in UK policing and is currently a Member of the Association of Police Authorities’ Council.

Married with three grown up children, he has lived in Chirk all his life and is committed to serving the local community.

He was a Member of Chirk Town Council for 14 years and has chaired the Town Council on two occasions.

In 1995, Cllr Roberts was elected to Wrexham County Borough Council as a member for Chirk North Ward. He was Chair of the Environmental Licensing Committee until May 2004.

He is a member of the Crime and Disorder Strategy group, the Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee and the Corporate Governance Policy Scrutiny Committee.

In addition, Cllr Roberts chairs the Chirk Environmental Liaison Group and the Pen y Bont Liaison Group. He is also a Governor of Ceiriog Junior School in Chirk.

Other interests include gardening, walking and supporting Wrexham Football Club.
