Committees & Meetings

The Authority conducts a lot of its work through its Committees. The reason for this is to demonstrate, in a public forum, how the Authority holds the Chief Constable to account for the policing service delivered to North Wales.

One of the Authorities core duties is to ensure an effective and efficient policing service, and as the representatives of the public, the Authority Members, use Committees as a way of ensuring the service is of a sufficient standard, by requesting performance and other reports from the Chief Constable, monitoring progress against targets and questioning the progress made by the force in making North Wales a safer place.

In 2010 the Authority revised its Committee structure. The structure is now designed to ensure that we carry out all of our statuary and other duties effectively and that we monitor performance against your annual and three year policing plans. The policing priorities established in the 2010/11 policing plan have been allocated to the following committees:

  • Ensure that people have trust and confidence in North Wales Police - Full Authority
  • Reduce and resolve crime and ASB that impacts on our communities - Performance Review Committee
  • Protect people and reduce harm - Performance Review Committee
  • Deliver a quality service that meets the needs of our communities - Professional Standards Committee
  • Provide a well led, organised and skilled workforce - Audit and Resources Committees

A copy of the revised structure is attached below, and meeting papers, minutes and further information about the work of the committees can be accessed by following the links to the committee pages on the right.
