The police station in Colwyn Bay is currently a base for 100 staff including the response team , some local policing staff and other police personnel. The station has a front counter service which is open from 9am to 7pm seven days a week.
The station in Colwyn Bay is located near the town centre; however the building is no longer fit for purpose. It is proposed to close the station in Colwyn Bay and relocate the policing teams to the Police Headquarters complex in Colwyn Bay. The details of the location of the front counter service are currently being discussed but the counter service will continue at the new location.

Approximately 40 staff are based from the police station in Llandudno. This figure includes members of the local policing team for the area as well as training staff. The station front counter service is open 7 days per week – 9am to 7pm. The space within the station is poorly used and the age of the building means that it is not adaptable to meet the needs of delivering a modern policing service. Although the station is centrally located within Llandudno there are other problems associated with the location such as the parking of police vehicles.
Llandudno is recognised as an operationally important location and we are committed to ensuring that there is a suitable police station in Llandudno. We would be looking towards relocating the station in Llandudno to a smaller, more suitable building. It is important to note that until a suitable alternative is found the current station in Llandudno will remain open.
In terms of relocating the policing service in Llandudno we have looked at several options and as yet we do not have a preferred option for the area. Due to the size of the policing requirement for the area more detailed work is required to identify a suitable location and undertake a full appraisal. We would like to ask the community or organisations and businesses in Llandudno to propose potential locations for the station in Llandudno, and we would welcome your views on the options available. The front counter service will continue at the new location.

Llanrwst has been identified as requiring further review, although there are no set plans or timelines for when this work will commence. The review has found that the building is relatively fit for purpose, and relatively operationally essential. We would welcome suggestions from the community for potential alternatives. There may be an opportunity in the future to collocate with the local authority in the area and we would welcome feedback on this possibility.
