Mr. Drew has lived in Llandudno since 1998 and is married to Kath. They have two grown-up sons, who now each have families of their own. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (retired section) and holds a Diploma in Business Administration, awarded by the Manchester Business School.

Although now retired from a career in public finance that embraced the NHS, several Local Authorities and finally being Director of Finance of a Housing Association, Mr. Drew continues his interest in public, voluntary and charitable work. Over the years this has meant, active membership of each of the Conwy County Borough Council Standards Committee, North Wales Housing Association, the Rotary Club of Llandudno and work as a voluntary adviser with Llandudno Citizens Advice Bureau.

Mr. Drew was appointed to serve on North Wales Police Authority as an Independent Member in April 2003 and re-appointed for a further four year period in April 2007. This second term was further extended by statute in view of the proposed statutory abolition of Police Authorities.He chaired the Audit Committee and the Budget Scrutiny Panel from their inception in 2005 until May 2010. He sits on the Authority’s Audit Committee and Performance Review Committee. He is also the Authority’s Lead Member for income generation, sits on the memebers' review group for business and represents the Authority on the Force's 2011+ Group.
