Jean Bryson has a background in teaching and training. She was brought up in North Yorkshire and educated in York. She graduated from the University of Durham, and holds a post-graduate Certificate in Education from Edinburgh, and the Common Professional Examination in Law.
She moved to Wales in 1981 and has lived in Conwy since then. She has been a Magistrate for over 20 years, and sits on the Conwy Bench dealing with adult court work as well as Family and Youth panel cases. She was Bench Chairman and also chaired the North Wales Magistrates’ Courts Committee. Mrs Bryson was appointed as a member of the North Wales Courts Board in 2005.
Over the years she has worked in the community on a voluntary basis for several organisations, including the Pre-school Playgroups Association, Relate, the North Wales Family Mediation Service, and Macmillan. She is a Governor of St David’s College, Llandudno, and also a Liveryman of the Welsh Livery Guild. This is an organisation which promotes the Arts, Science, and Technology in Wales, and in particular skills and associated professional activities. It has established a charitable fund which makes awards and travel scholarships to develop the talent of young people throughout Wales.
Her interests include music & theatre, golf, walking, and skiing. She is married with 2 children.
