Re-develop

The police station in Wrexham is base to approximately 280 staff including the response team, some local policing staff, CID and other police personnel. The station has a front counter service which is open from 8am to 9:30pm seven days per week.  The station block also has a large custody block.

The station in Wrexham is in urgent need of investment of approximately £5.5million and the draft Estate Review confirms this fact.

The building has reached the end of its economic life and some areas of the building, particularly the ‘tower’, are not used fully due to the inadequacy of the accommodation. Full details of the requirements for redevelopment in Wrexham are provided within the draft Estate Review and we will be looking for an appropriate site to construct a Hub and custody block in the Wrexham area. We would welcome proposals from the local community with regard to the location of the new build. The preferred option is establishing a police station in a town centre location in Wrexham combined with an out of town station to provide response policing and custody.

Re-locate

The police station in Cefn Mawr is a base for seven number staff from the local policing team for the area. The station does not provide a front counter service.

The space within the station is  poorly used and the age of the building means that it is not adaptable to meet the needs of delivering a modern policing service.

We would be looking towards relocating the station to a more suitable location. It is important to note that until a suitable alternative is found the current station in Cefn Mawr will remain open.

In terms of relocating the policing service in Cefn Mawr we will be looking at several options. We would like to hear the views of the community on these possible options.

Review

The police station in Coedpoeth is base to approximately eleven local policing team staff.  There is no front counter service at the station.

The review has found that the building is not wholly fit for purpose and is underused. The location is relatively operationally important, however, due to the age of the building maintenance costs are comparatively high. Coedpoeth has been identified as requiring further review, although there are no set plans or timelines for when this work will commence.  We would welcome suggestions from the community for potential alternatives.
